Overview

What Civic actually does.

Civic provides decentralized identity verification and compliance infrastructure for the Solana ecosystem. The platform enables dApps, token launches, and DeFi protocols to verify user identities, enforce compliance requirements, and prevent bot activity — all while preserving user privacy through zero-knowledge-based attestations. Civic's core product is the Civic Pass, an on-chain token that represents a verified identity credential. Once a user completes verification (which can include ID checks, liveness detection, age verification, or CAPTCHA validation), they receive a non-transferable Civic Pass that dApps can check on-chain. This allows protocols to gate access to verified humans without storing personal data on-chain. For token launches on Solana, Civic offers bot protection and Sybil resistance. Projects can require Civic Pass verification for participation in token sales, airdrops, or governance votes, ensuring that real humans — not bots or multi-account farmers — are participating. Civic integrates with Solana's SPL token standard and can be added to any Solana dApp through a simple SDK. Several major Solana projects use Civic for compliance, including decentralized exchanges that need to enforce geographic restrictions and NFT projects that want to limit minting to one per person. The CIVIC token is used for governance and as payment for premium verification services. The platform has processed millions of verifications across multiple blockchains, with Solana being a primary deployment chain due to the ecosystem's need for bot protection during token launches and airdrops.
