Overview

What Saber actually does.

Saber is an automated market maker on Solana built specifically for trading pegged assets such as stablecoins and wrapped tokens. By concentrating on assets that should trade close to parity, it can offer swaps with minimal slippage compared to general-purpose AMMs that aren't tuned for tightly correlated pairs. Under the hood, Saber uses a StableSwap algorithm, a curve designed for efficient swaps between similarly priced assets. This lets traders move between stablecoins or between a token and its wrapped equivalent with low price impact, and lets liquidity providers earn fees on those pools. Saber is one of the earliest Solana DeFi protocols and is now community-managed through SaberDAO governance, meaning decisions about the protocol are steered by its token-holding community rather than a central team. It's aimed at traders seeking efficient stable swaps and liquidity providers focused on pegged-asset pools. As with any AMM, providing liquidity carries risks, and pegged assets can occasionally depeg, which affects pool balances and provider outcomes. Community governance also means the protocol's direction depends on DAO participation. Users should understand StableSwap mechanics and the specific assets in a pool before depositing.
