Overview

What Sonic SVM actually does.

Sonic SVM is the first atomic SVM (Solana Virtual Machine) chain purpose-built for gaming. Using the HyperGrid framework, Sonic creates a Layer 2 environment on Solana where game transactions cost 100x less than Solana L1 while maintaining atomic composability with the main chain. A key innovation is EVM compatibility: developers can write smart contracts in Solidity (EVM) and have them execute on the SVM, dramatically lowering the barrier for Ethereum game developers to build on Solana's infrastructure. Sonic's SonicX TikTok game surpassed 1 million players, demonstrating the platform's ability to handle consumer-scale gaming workloads. The $SONIC token launched in January 2025, and the project raised $12 million led by Bitkraft Ventures. For game developers who need Solana's speed but at a fraction of the cost, Sonic SVM provides a dedicated gaming chain that's purpose-optimized for high-throughput, low-cost game transactions while remaining connected to Solana's liquidity and ecosystem.
