Dumpy.fun is a Solana protocol that lets traders short sell memecoins, a market segment that has historically only offered upside-or-exit positions. It works by borrowing tokens from liquidity providers and selling them instantly at market price, giving traders a way to express bearish conviction on memecoins directly on-chain with instant settlement. The protocol was built by the Save team (formerly Solend), an established name in Solana DeFi lending, which informs its borrowing-and-collateral mechanics. A squeeze explorer surfaces liquidation thresholds for open shorts, turning the data into a PvP layer where communities can coordinate to trigger short squeezes against bearish positions. Dumpy.fun is aimed at active memecoin traders who want to short rather than only buy, and at communities that enjoy the adversarial, game-like dynamics of squeezing over-leveraged shorts. It fills a genuine gap in the Solana memecoin trading stack. Shorting memecoins is inherently high-risk: these are extremely volatile, speculative assets, and short positions carry liquidation risk amplified by the squeeze mechanics the platform itself exposes. Borrowing depends on available liquidity from providers, and as with any DeFi protocol there is smart-contract risk.
