Overview

What ether.fi actually does.

ether.fi is a liquid staking and restaking protocol distinguished by a non-custodial design in which stakers retain control of their validator keys, addressing a criticism levelled at pooled staking protocols where the operator holds them. Depositors receive a liquid token representing their staked position that continues to accrue rewards while remaining usable in DeFi, and the protocol layers restaking on top to earn additional yield from securing other services. ether.fi is named on Robinhood Chain's official ecosystem list, where its role is as yield-bearing collateral in the lending markets that constitute most of the chain's non-DEX activity. The tradeoff to weigh is that restaking stacks additional slashing conditions on top of ordinary staking risk, so the headline yield carries correspondingly more ways to lose principal.
