Overview

What Keel actually does.

Keel is the Solana-native capital allocation arm of Sky, the protocol formerly known as MakerDAO. It is mandated to deploy up to $2.5 billion in USDS reserves across Solana DeFi protocols and tokenized real-world asset markets, channeling institutional-scale capital into the ecosystem. By routing reserves from one of DeFi's most established and battle-tested protocols into Solana, Keel acts as a bridge between mature DeFi governance and Solana's high-performance infrastructure. The presence of this much allocatable capital can deepen liquidity and support the growth of lending, stablecoin, and RWA markets on the chain. Keel is most relevant to protocol teams, treasuries, and observers tracking where large pools of stablecoin reserves flow within Solana DeFi. As a strategic allocator rather than a consumer-facing app, its impact is felt through the protocols it funds and the markets it helps build out. Honest caveats: capital allocation decisions are governed by Sky's processes and can change, so deployments are not static commitments. Concentrating large reserves into DeFi carries protocol and smart-contract risk, and the strategy is closely tied to the health and governance of the broader Sky ecosystem rather than being an independent product users directly transact with.
