DEXScreener is one of the most visited sites in all of crypto — and if you trade on Solana, you're probably already using it. It's the go-to platform for finding new tokens, reading charts, and tracking price action across decentralized exchanges.
But most traders barely scratch the surface. They paste a contract address, look at the chart, and move on. DEXScreener's real power is in its filters, alerts, pair discovery features, and watchlists — tools that can surface alpha before most people even notice a token exists.

What Is DEXScreener?
DEXScreener is a free, multi-chain charting and token discovery platform. It aggregates real-time trading data from decentralized exchanges and presents it in a clean, fast interface with TradingView-powered charts.
For Solana specifically, DEXScreener pulls data from:

Getting Started
The Interface
When you land on DEXScreener, you'll see:
- Top bar: Search (paste any token address or name), chain selector, trending pairs
- Sidebar: New Pairs, Trending, Gainers, Hot Pairs, Watchlist
- Main area: Chart + data for the selected pair
Switch to Solana by clicking the chain selector and choosing Solana, or just search for a Solana token directly.
Searching for a Token
You can find tokens in three ways:
- Paste the contract address (CA): Most reliable method. Copy the CA from Telegram, Twitter, or wherever you found it, paste into the search bar
- Search by name: Type the token name or ticker. Be careful — there are often dozens of tokens with the same name. Always verify the contract address
- Browse discovery feeds: Use New Pairs, Trending, or the filters to discover tokens organically
Pro tip: When searching by name, DEXScreener shows the market cap and liquidity next to each result. Use this to quickly identify the "real" token versus copycats.
Reading Token Charts
When you open a token page, here's what you're looking at:
Price Chart
The centerpiece. DEXScreener uses TradingView charts, so you get:
- Candlestick charts with customizable timeframes (1m, 5m, 15m, 1h, 4h, 1D)
- Drawing tools: Trendlines, horizontal levels, Fibonacci retracement
- Indicators: RSI, MACD, Bollinger Bands, Volume Profile, and hundreds more
- Chart types: Candlestick, line, area, Heikin Ashi
For memecoins, the 1-minute and 5-minute candles are most useful since price action happens fast. For more established tokens, 1h or 4h gives a better picture.
Key Metrics
Below or beside the chart, you'll see critical data points:
- Price: Current token price in USD and SOL
- Market Cap: Current fully diluted valuation
- Liquidity: Total value locked in the trading pool. This is one of the most important numbers — low liquidity means high slippage and higher risk
- 24h Volume: How much trading activity in the last 24 hours
- 24h Txns: Number of buy and sell transactions
- Buys vs Sells: The ratio of buy to sell transactions and volume. More buys than sells isn't always bullish (bots often show as many small buys), but extreme sell dominance is a red flag
- Makers: Number of unique wallets that traded
Transaction Feed
The real-time transaction feed shows every swap as it happens:
- Wallet address (abbreviated)
- Buy or sell
- Amount in USD and tokens
- Timestamp
Watch for patterns: a single wallet making repeated large sells is concerning. Clusters of small buys followed by one large sell can indicate a pump-and-dump.
Token Discovery: Finding Alpha
This is where DEXScreener becomes a trading edge rather than just a charting tool.
New Pairs
The "New Pairs" feed shows tokens the moment their liquidity pools go live. For Solana, this means you'll see tokens migrating from Pump.fun to PumpSwap in real time.
To filter the noise:
- Go to New Pairs
- Set chain to Solana
- Filter by minimum liquidity ($5K+ removes most scams)
- Filter by minimum 24h volume ($10K+)
- Sort by age to see the newest viable pairs
Warning: New pairs are extremely risky. Most tokens you see here will lose 90%+ of their value within hours. Use this feed for discovery, then do proper research before buying.
Trending
DEXScreener's trending section shows tokens with the highest activity relative to their size. This can surface tokens gaining momentum before they hit mainstream attention.
Trending is sorted by a proprietary "hot" algorithm that factors in transaction count, unique traders, volume growth, and social signals. It's not just about raw volume.
Screener Filters
The screener is DEXScreener's most powerful feature and what separates casual users from power users.
You can filter Solana tokens by:
- Market cap range (e.g., $50K-$500K for micro-caps)
- Liquidity (minimum threshold to avoid illiquid traps)
- Volume (24h, 6h, 1h — shows momentum)
- Age (how long the pair has existed)
- Price change (% gain/loss over various periods)
- Number of transactions
- Number of buys vs sells
Example filter for finding early runners:
- Chain: Solana
- Pair age: 1h to 24h
- Liquidity: > $10,000
- 1h volume: > $5,000
- 1h price change: > 20%
- Buys/sells ratio: > 1.5
This surfaces tokens that recently launched, have real liquidity, and are showing early buying momentum. It won't catch every winner, but it filters out 99% of the noise.
Watchlists
DEXScreener lets you build watchlists to track tokens you're interested in. Create a free account (email or wallet connection) and:
- Star any token to add it to your watchlist
- Organize into multiple lists (e.g., "Watching", "Bought", "Research")
- See all your watched tokens' performance at a glance
Alerts
Setting up alerts is essential if you're not sitting in front of DEXScreener all day.
Price Alerts
- Open any token page
- Click the bell icon
- Set your target price (above or below current)
- Choose notification method (browser, Telegram, email via account)
Use price alerts for:
- Entry points: Set alerts below current price for tokens you want to buy on a dip
- Take-profit levels: Get notified when a token hits your target
- Stop-loss warnings: Alert if price drops below a threshold
