Overview

What Fuse Wallet actually does.

Fuse is the first Solana smart wallet built on Squads Protocol, designed to replace fragile seed phrases with multifactor authentication. Instead of a single private key that can be lost or stolen, each Fuse wallet is a smart account that requires 2-of-3 key approval for every transaction, distributing security across multiple factors. This architecture brings familiar Web2-style safeguards to self-custody: 2FA security and social recovery mean users can regain access without a seed phrase, reducing one of crypto's biggest points of failure. Fuse also bundles everyday functionality, including fee-less swaps, staking, and a USDC debit card for US users, making it a practical hub for managing Solana assets. Fuse is aimed at users who want self-custody without the anxiety of seed-phrase management, including newcomers intimidated by traditional wallets and security-conscious users who value multisig protection. The smart-account model also appeals to those who want recoverability built in from the start. As a smart-account wallet, Fuse relies on the underlying Squads Protocol and its smart-contract logic, which introduces protocol-level considerations distinct from a basic key-pair wallet. Some features, such as the USDC debit card, are limited to US users, and the 2-of-3 approval model means users must manage their key factors responsibly to retain access.

Some Fuse users allocated funds to @DriftProtocol via the Fuse wallet interface and are affected by the recent Drift security incident. We are in communication with the Drift team and monitoring the situation as it develops. The ability to allocate additional funds to Drift has been paused for users who allocated assets to Drift before the incident. For all other users the Drift option has been removed. For the avoidance of doubt: only users who elected to allocate funds to Drift through the Fuse interface are affected. We understand this is a difficult situation for affected users. We will share updates here as more information becomes available.
